The Merriam's turkey is a native of New Mexico and Arizona. Ancient pueblo and Mimbres people once domesticated the turkey before it went wild and populated the region. If you desire a hunt for Merriam's turkey in their native range you need to hunt one of the two southwestern states. The Santa Fe Guiding Company guides hunters on one day hunts around Santa Fe and on multiple day camp outs in wilderness areas throughout New Mexico.  Our fully outfitted campouts are way out in the middle of turkey territory where you will encounter wild Merriam's that probably have not seen a hunter this season.  You can also expect to hunt right out of our well placed camps each morning or taking short drives to be dropped of to hunt back to camp for breakfast awaiting our arrival.

We understand turkey hunters and the desire to call in your own bird and always offer a semi guided hunt to fulfill your wishes when requested. With a semi guided hunt, your guide will locate the areas to be hunted and provide assistance in area navigation and transportation in 4 X 4 trucks and of course their expert wilderness guide skills in safety, first aid and camp management.
